Position Description

Working Title: Academic Resource Manager, University Library

MPP employees serve at the pleasure of the campus President.  MPPs do not serve a probationary period and never receive permanent status.

Classification Title: Administrator II

Position Range $7,289 - $10,934 per month

The anticipated hiring range is $7,300 - $9,000 per month

Salary is commensurate with experience.

About the Department/Position

The University Library fosters student success, scholarly research, and academic excellence through the provision of information resources; user-centered services and learning experiences; and welcoming, technology-enhanced environments that facilitate lifelong learning, collaboration, innovation, and the acquisition of information literacy skills.

Under the general direction of the Dean of the University Library, the Academic Resource Manager is the primary fiscal officer for the Library. Working closely with the library Dean, the position is responsible for all financial management, administrative, and human resources functions for the Library. The incumbent will coordinate fiscal affairs, budgeting, scheduling, special projects, and other efforts for all departments in the Library.

Overview of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages the Library's fiscal activities, including budget preparation and facilitation, expenditure reconciliation, analysis, account controls, and overseeing foundation/auxiliary accounts.
  • Manages the Human Resources processes for the Library.
  • Serves as the Library's point of contact for all accounts payable and procurement and has direct oversight of these processes.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a closely related field.
  • At least 5 years of increased levels of experience and responsibility related to accounting and personnel matters.
  • A minimum of 4 cumulative years of experience in financial management and budget analysis and reporting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong skill set and knowledge related to fiscal management and accounting practices and principles.
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities, with accuracy and efficiency under pressure and within a dynamic environment.
  • General knowledge of HR policies, procedures and personnel matters.
  • Demonstrated ability to use computers and software applications related to fiscal and HR management needs, including Excel.
  • Ability to extract, compile, analyze, present and make recommendations related to financial data retrieved from PeopleSoft, CHRS, and other financial and HR-related sources.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or closely related field.
  • Financial and budgetary experience with the California State University system.
  • Knowledge of CSU collective bargaining agreements.
  • Experience in higher education fiscal affairs, budget preparation, reconciliation, and experience managing instructional budgets of an academic unit.
  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation communication skills.
