Under the general direction of the Vice President for University Advancement, the UA Content Creator will serve as a strategic writer and content creator for Advancement initiatives (namely for Development and Alumni) that enhance donor/alumni engagement and their philanthropy. The UA Content Creator is a position that will play a critical role in generating transformational change, benefitting CSUDH students and faculty for generations to come.

We’re looking for someone with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. The ideal candidate has experience creating powerful stories through various formats and has a passion for storytelling. The ideal candidate also has the ability to establish relationships and interact positively with a culturally diverse population of senior leadership at the University, along with faculty, staff, alumni, and students.

Overview of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partners with the VP and development and alumni leadership to strategize and plan donor and alumni communications (both print and digital) that are persuasive and inspire the constituents to take action  
  • Conducts research and serves as an internal liaison with university leadership and faculty to identify and compose appropriate and effective storytelling for fundraising, planned giving, and stewardship materials
  • Builds a network across campus to identify and collect relevant stories to shine the light on areas where philanthropy makes an impact
  • Develops templates and content for print, electronic, and web-based communication platforms for alumni fundraising appeals and programming, donor stewardship pieces, gift acknowledgment letters, and engagement and recognition programs
  • Writes, edits, and proofreads copy for targeted internal and external audiences -- including, but not limited to: case statements, info sheets, white papers, newsletters, presentations, student profiles, select impact/progress reports, and templates for individual giving proposals to secure major and principal gifts
  • Other duties as assigned

This is a full-time, permanent (probationary) position with occasional early morning, evening, and weekend hours. Requires reliable source of transportation to attend events at variable hours. A hybrid work schedule is available.

The salary range for this classification is: $4,104 - $ 7,425 monthly.

The anticipated hiring salary range is: $4,104 - $ 6,000 monthly.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field
  • Five (5) or more years of experience writing funding proposals and/or producing high-level strategic communications
  • Certification: Valid Driver License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a college or university setting
  • Experience creating short-form videos
  • Familiarity with the major social media platforms and experience creating content for at least some of those
