Classification Salary Range: $6,322 - $12,285 per month
The anticipated hiring range for this position is $7,500 -$8,000 per month.
The final salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience.
About the Department/Position:
Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President of Facilities Planning, Design, and Construction and in collaboration with the Department's management team and colleagues across the campus, the University Facilities Planner is responsible for planning, developing, leading, and administering highly complex and specialized projects and initiatives. The campus planner oversees both the external and internal space planning needs of the University by supporting all aspects of physical campus planning, land use, new buildings, as well as additions and modifications to existing buildings and sites including master plan development and coordination with third-party developers and investors. Projects and duties assigned have a broad campus and potentially, system-wide impact.
Overview of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Special Projects/Facilities Systems Administration
- Support all aspects of physical campus planning, land use, new buildings, as well as additions and modifications to existing buildings and sites.
- Acting as the system administrator/team leader
- Preparing design and construction documents
- Space Utilization Oversees both the external and internal space planning needs of the University
- Prepared and submits required space data documents to Chancellor's Office
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Planning, Architecture, Management or Business Administration and six (6) years of progressively responsible administrative and analytical work in support of a highly complex organization or projects in a University or institutional setting. 2 years of drafting experience, can be substituted with training.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Highly developed project management skills including those required to plan, lead and oversee complex projects and initiatives with a diverse group of clientele.
- Thorough knowledge of project management pertaining to business management and processes. To include the ability to learn and
effectively apply business management-related standards, guidelines, processes, procedures, and terminology specific to the University and California State University system.
- Demonstrated competence in understanding, interpreting, and communicating procedures, policies, information, ideas, and instructions.
- Experience building and sustaining collaborative working relationships with a variety of individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- An understanding of the dynamics of diversity in higher education and a demonstrated ability to incorporate this understanding, as appropriate, in all levels of your work,
- Comprehensive knowledge of computer drafting methods and techniques.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Master's degree in Business Administration or Public Administration is preferred.
- University Space Database administration experience preferred.
- General knowledge of physical planning as pertaining to a University campus preferred
- Campus or Mixed-use Master plan development experience is a plus.
