Position Description

Working Title: Research Development Associate, Office of Graduate Studies and Research

Classification Title:

Classification Salary Range: $4,170 - $7,545 per month

The final salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience.

About the Department/Position:

Under the general supervision of the Dean of Graduate Studies and Research and the day-to-day oversight of the Research Development Program Leader, the Research Development Associate will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administrators to promote and advance research, scholarship, and creative activities in all disciplines. The incumbent will support faculty and other key campus stakeholders in identifying and disseminating funding opportunities, developing grant proposals, co-facilitating research development events, and coordinating research compliance tasks in support of faculty scholarship.

The deadline-based nature of the position requires the incumbent to occasionally work outside of regular office hours.Requires daily computer use.

Overview of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish and cultivate relationships with faculty, staff, and other key campus stakeholders to stay informed of current research and programmatic activities at CSUDH
  • Stay abreast of current public and private funding trends and utilize grant databases to identify external funding opportunities aligned with stakeholder research interests and qualifications
  • Disseminate funding opportunities through newsletter, email, and other digital communication methods
  • Collect required compliance documents, such as Financial Conflict of Interest (FCOI), and review for completeness and accuracy

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs, equivalent to three years.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal communication, writing, spelling, grammatical, and editing skills; sound judgment; and attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills and a service-oriented attitude is required.
  • Must be able to work independently and effectively in a team-oriented, deadline-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to understand and explain funding agency requirements and federal regulations.
  • Computer competency and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree and prior CSU experience
  • Competency with the software platforms Cayuse, InfoReady, and Visual Compliance
