Working Title: Program Admissions Evaluator
Department Name: College of Education
Division: Academic Affairs
Classification Title: Evaluator I
Classification Salary Range: $3,866 - $5,440 per month
The final salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience.
About the Department/Position:
Under the general supervision of the Associate Dean for the College of Education (COE), the Program Admissions Evaluator will evaluate and process incoming COE (General Education and Teacher Education) postbaccalaureate and graduate applications. The Program Admissions Evaluator will maintain and update a database for each program and determine eligibility by verifying various requirements such as exams, transcripts, degree posted, course and GPA requirements, etc. The position will be responsible for scanning supporting documentation and maintaining electronic files for each candidate and provide applicant status updates and notifications.
Overview of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and process all incoming COE (GED, TED, SPE) postbaccalaureate and graduate applications.
- Determine eligibility by verifying various documents.
- Interpret university and program policies for students, faculty, and staff.
- Keep applicants updated on their status and informed on materials needed to complete the admission process.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Equivalent to completion of a formal training program in academic records evaluation OR one year of academic records evaluation experience OR any 12-month combination of training and experience related to academic records evaluation.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the format and interpretation of course records and transcripts of institutions of higher education
- Knowledge of authenticating course credits and comparing records of differing formats, such as foreign records
- Knowledge of campus curriculum requirements for majors, minors, terminal degrees, and special program designations
- Ability to be thorough, consistent and accurate in the interpretation of records against criteria
- Ability to explain criteria and evaluations to others
Preferred Qualifications:
- Have expertise in using office software package, technology and systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot most office administration problems and respond to all inquiries and requests related to the work area.
- Ability to effectively handle interpersonal interactions at all levels and has the ability to handle highly sensitive interpersonal situations.
- Ability to independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects and have thorough knowledge of applicable COE and university infrastructure, policies and procedures.
