Classification Salary Range: $5,025 - $7,159 per month

The final salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience.

About the Department/Position:

Under general direction of the Assistant Dean of Graduate and Professional Programs, the Senior Admissions Advisor performs duties related to the recruitment and enrollment of graduate and professional students to CSUDH College of Business Administration and Public Policy (CBAPP). A significant component of this role is to meet prospective students and their families/support systems to provide information about enrollment and admission. These interactions will occur in individual and/or group settings, in person or on-phone. The incumbent must be familiar with admissions policies and requirements in order to communicate these requirements and assess a student’s eligibility clearly, correctly and effectively. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for the collection and follow-up of applicant materials to graduate and self-support programs. This position will be responsible for communicating and following established policies especially for international students.

Overview of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide information to incoming graduate and post-baccalaureate students about all aspects of the enrollment cycle, including but not limited to, application process, admission requirements, financial aid process, enrollment process and post-secondary options.
  • Assist Assistant Dean of Graduate and Professional Programs in developing relationships within the University and external community members to recruit and retain graduate and post-baccalaureate students.
  • Represent the University both on- and off-campus to prospective students, and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process.
  • Evaluate and oversee application processing.
  • Oversee pre and post assessment activities as related to student learning outcomes and service satisfaction

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field, including or supplemented by upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution where such are job-related.
  • Experience: Equivalent of three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience. One year in the program area to which assigned may be preferred but is not required. A master's degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience. A doctorate degree and the appropriate internship or clinical training in counseling or guidance may be substituted for the three years of experience for positions with a major responsibility for professional career or personal counseling.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • General knowledge of the principles, practices and trends of the Student Services field as well as general knowledge of the policies, procedures and practices of the program area to which assigned.
  • General knowledge of individual counseling techniques.
  • General knowledge, or the ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge, of the organizational procedures and activities of the specific campus to which the position is assigned.
  • Ability to analyze complex situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action.
  • Ability to advise students individually and in groups on complex student‑related matters.

  • Preferred Education: A master’s degree in Public Administration or Business Administration
