Position Description

Working Title: Clinical Coordinator

Classification Title: Student Services Professional III

Classification Salary Range: $4,610 - $6,556 per month

The final salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience.

About the Position

Under the general direction of the the Associate Dean for the College of Health, Human Services and Nursing (CHHSN) and in collaboration with the Director of the School of Nursing (SON), the incumbent is responsible for developing, processing and obtaining contracts from affiliating agencies, maintaining updated contract files in designated systems, working with faculty to assist in undergraduate and graduate student placements and maintaining relationships with affiliating clinical agencies for the nursing programs. The position also involves student advisement, and recruitment for the School of Nursing.

The incumbent may need to work evenings and weekend hours as needed.

Overview of Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the clinical affiliation agreement process for the School of Nursing.
  • Creates, organizes, and updates multiple databases for different customers.
  • Provides comprehensive advising to students regarding the appropriate placements.
  • Provides input for program academic policies, and program procedures.
  • Prepares reports, surveys and other paperwork for the SON, Board of Registered Nursing, and Public Health Department as required.
  • Coordinates SON outreach and recruitment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience: Equivalent of three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience. One year in the program area to which assigned may be preferred but is not required. A master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience. A doctorate degree and the appropriate internship or clinical training in counseling or guidance may be substituted for the three years of experience for positions with a major responsibility for professional career or personal counseling.
  • Education: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field, including or supplemented by upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution where such are job-related.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • General knowledge of the principles, practices and trends of the student services field.
  • General knowledge of practice, procedures and activities of the various academic programs within the School of Nursing and CSUDH or the ability to rapidly acquire the knowledge.
  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge of college advising, interview and recruiting techniques.
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills and ability to manage a fast-paced team oriented environment with frequent interruption while accomplishing program goals and objectives.
  • Ability to gather and analyze data, reason logically, draw valid conclusions, and make appropriate recommendations via oral presentations and/or written reports.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with nursing clinical placements for pre- and post-licensure nursing programs.
  • Experience in working with or within hospital/clinic Nursing Service Departments.
