Working Title:  Assistant Athletic Director - External Relations (Administrative Analyst/Specialist Exempt II)

Classification Salary Range: $5,022 - $9,083 per month

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $5,022 - $6,250 per month.

The final salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience.

About the Department/Position:

Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President of Athletics with a dotted line to the Sr. Associate to the Sr. Associate of Athletics, the Assistant Athletics Director – External Relations is responsible for providing sports management leadership and supporting Alumni Relations Programs, and Annual Giving initiatives.  This incumbent will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to generate financial support and sponsorship of Toro Athletics.  They will assist the AVP of Athletics in creating and updating an annual development plan and help establish short-term and long-term goals and strategies for department-specific fundraising.  These plans will be inclusive of philanthropic, transactional, individual, foundation, and corporate efforts. 

Day-to-day activities associated with this position include but are not limited to, identifying new prospects, making discovery and qualification calls, in person and from a distance; establishing and using cultivation and solicitation strategies; initiating and executing mini-campaigns; seeking out event sponsorship opportunities; asking for gifts.  Additionally, this position will work closely with the Associate Vice President of Athletics and other staff or volunteers to ensure that proper supporters’ stewardship occurs on time.

 Overview of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with University Advancement and other stakeholders to develop and execute annual department fundraising drives and major gift campaigns.
  • Cultivate philanthropic and transactional financial support.
  • Obtain external revenues through the development and implementation of a comprehensive corporate sponsorship program through the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual/corporate donations and/or sponsorships.
  • Sports Management and Administrative Leadership
  • Work with Athletics leadership to oversee game operations and sports supervision.
  • Attends home contests in the assigned sports as the staff member in charge as required by the CCAA and NCAA.
  • Work with event staff as the game day lead and troubleshoot any game management or behavioral issues.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university and at least three (3) years of experience in fundraising and development operations and two (2) years experience in higher education athletics or similar industry. 
  • Seven years of related experience can be substituted for the required degree.

 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of NCAA Division II rules and higher education organization.
  • Thorough knowledge of intercollegiate sports
  • Extensive knowledge of fundraising and sponsorship
  • Ability to provide lead work direction and knowledge of general business operations.
  • Possess a strong written and interpersonal (verbal) communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree
  • Experience planning or coordinating special event
  • Experience working in intercollegiate sports
  • Game management experience
