Position Salary Range: $9,799 - $14,698 per month

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $11,250 - $11,667 per month. 

Salary is commensurate with experience.

About the Department/Position:

As part of CSU Dominguez Hills Administration and Finance Division, the Budget Planning and Administration are responsible for the planning, development, and administration of funds appropriated to the University. They support both management and end users in administering and understanding the budget. It is their intention to provide easier access to timely information and to help departmental users understand basic budget concepts.

Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President of Business and Finance, the University Budget Director plays a pivotal role in shaping the financial future of the University. This dynamic position is responsible for directing and overseeing the entire University budget process, ensuring fiscal integrity and compliance with Federal, State, and University statutes and policies.

This position is eligible for telecommuting after the first 60 days.

 Overview of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Budget Analysis and Reporting: Perform complex budget/resource analysis, prepare comprehensive reports, and ensure transparency in the budget process.
  • Budget Planning and Administration: Oversee the planning, development, and administration of funds, including annual budgets and projections.
  • Legislative Monitoring: Monitor and interpret CSU budget information and legislative activities, preparing impact projections.
  • Initial Budget Formulation: Lead the formulation of the initial operating budget and appropriation requests.
  • Fund Allocation: Allocate divisional and centrally monitored budgets, providing oversight for all university funds.
  • Supervision and Training: Supervise staff, conduct performance evaluations, and provide training.
  • Software and Systems Management: Participate in software upgrades and troubleshooting, ensuring efficient financial information systems.
  • Audit and Compliance: Facilitate internal audit processes, ensuring fiscal and administrative integrity and compliance.
  • Presentation and Reporting: Formulate, present, and report campus budget and expenditures, providing regular budget and expenditure reports.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a budget liaison with the Office of the Chancellor and government agencies, responding to inquiries and providing training.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, public administration, or a related field.

  • Five (5) years of high-level administrative-technical experience in accounting, fiscal management, budget planning, and budget administration in the private, public sector, or higher education.

  • Experience in supervising or training others in fiscal/financial management techniques required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform complex budget/resource analysis.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in financial systems and software.
