Position Salary Range: $6,200 - $9,300 per month

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $6,700 – $7,700 per month.

Salary is commensurate with experience.

Position Summary:

Under the general direction of the Interim Assistant Dean of Students, The Program Director of the Male Success Alliance (MSA) provides visionary leadership, strategic oversight, and culturally affirming programming to improve educational equity and eliminate opportunity gaps for self-identified men of color. The Program Director is responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive success initiative that promotes belonging, identity development, academic achievement, a sense of brotherhood and post-graduate readiness for historically underrepresented men.

This position plays a critical role in advancing CSUDH’s strategic equity goals and student success Initiatives by developing responsive and data-informed approaches to student persistence, retention, and completion. The Program Director will maintain and establish new relationships with regional and national partners, conducting assessment and research projects, and providing holistic student development programs and services for the MSA student organization. The Program Director supervises professional and student staff, manages programming and operations, engages in strategic planning, and cultivates meaningful campus and community partnerships that uplift men of color and enhance campus climate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and assess high-impact programs focused on academic success, cultural identity, leadership development, and personal growth for men of color.
  • Manage and design program and services content for web page and social media outlets.
  • Lead planning of MSA events, mentoring programs, peer cohorts, workshops, and retreats.
  • Facilitate a culture of belonging and brotherhood through intentional community-building strategies.
  • Develop and integrate culturally responsive pedagogies and practices rooted in equity and anti-racism frameworks.
  • Align all program efforts with student equity data, GI 2025 benchmarks, and divisional goals

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, student affairs, counseling, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of professional experience in equity-based programs.
  • 1 year of supervisory/managerial experience required including leadership, supervision, and program coordination.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of academic, social, and emotional problems confronting students, especially young men, from diverse backgrounds.
  • Interpersonal communication skills to clearly and effectively interact with individuals of varying ages and cultural backgrounds and effectively resolve disagreements and conflicts.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate skillfully and effectively with a diverse population.
  • Demonstrated ability to garner the support of key stakeholders and lead an effective team. Experience designing and carrying out assessment and research projects.
  • Demonstrated experience working with and executing grant funded program objectives.
  • Experience writing progress, summary and end of grant period reports that meet funding requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in higher education, counseling, ethnic studies, public administration, or related discipline.
  • Experience with grant writing and administration.
  • Knowledge of restorative practices, critical race theory, and men of color student success frameworks (e.g., Yosso’s Cultural Wealth Model, Harper’s Anti-Deficit Framework).
  • Familiarity with CSU systems, GI 2025, and first-gen support models.
  • Demonstrated experience working with African American, Latinx, Native American, Pacific Islander, and other men of color in higher education.
